braving new technology

During my Artist-in-Residence at Batley Art Gallery, West Yorks, Uk. Autum 2009 I was filmed talking about the the art work I was producing for that specific Aerist-in-Residence project. My huge thanks to my friend Si, I am now on You Tube: an interview with Carrie http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=reY2hF2gyO4 The film was made by Si King, Skater, Photographer, Film Maker , Lover of Adventure, along with snow100. such beauty.....

I love trees, especially winter trees as they can show off their true form!

Snow Angel

On Sunday 3rd December, whilst on a visit to The Yorkshire Sculpture Park I experienced by very first Snow Angel. What Heaven!!

Techy troubles......

Due to technical difficulties I am unable to upload further images film which accompanies the Batley Residency. May be at a much later date. I worked collaboratively with Artist friends and colleague to develop my initial movement and mark-making. The initial idea on movement / dance and mark-making I had years ago when a student at Bretton Hall. I do believe that everything does have it's own gestation period. I am so very excited to be making manifest my ideas now. I was very fortunate to have studied separately and simultaneously, Textiles and Dance. The disciplines of Art & of Dance are equal in passion as modes of self expression.

Sunset

Sunset over Whitby, North Yorkshire. Whitby is a favourite destination of mine, for many reasons. I am a sucker for a “good” sunset! This was taken late summer, Whitby Abbey was behind me, facing towards The North York Moors. csh1109

Movement Markmaking Music

For the last year I have been specifically been creating imagery to specific sound and music. Recording the immediacy of emotive movement visually. This concept I have had for twenty years. I was fortunate to have studied at Bretton Hall College of the University of Leeds. I studied Fine Art Textiles Majoring in Honours Degree and Dance as minor Degree. Dance and movement have been as integral as drawing and painting to my creative being. When I draw and paint I feel it is a performance, I create with my whole being. Csh 1109
